TRADITIONAL MEXICAN CELEBRATION IN EAST HARLEM FEATURES MUSIC, FOOD, CRAFTS, AND MORE
Halloween is on the 31st, but the Day of the Dead happens two days later. . . The Union Settlement Association, the oldest and largest social services provider in East Harlem, is holding its 15th annual El Día de los Muertos celebration on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. In collaboration with local artists and businesses, East Harlem children, family, and community leaders will spend all day building a cross-shaped altar commemorating those who have died in the past year. Evening events will include a traditional Mexican feast, skits, dancing, and musical performances by a mariachi band. Video, photo, and interview opportunities are available throughout the day’s events!
